REESE'S
The most Iconic and popular chocolate cup filled with delicious peanut butter, was created by a man named Harry Burnett Reese. He was born in 1879 in Pennsylvania to a farming family. He married in 1900 and went to have 16 children. In 1903 he found himself struggling to support his family so took on a job that was advertised by the Hershey Chocolate Company. He Became inspired by Hershey to set out to make his own chocolates. Initially he considered his chocolate venture as a means for extra money. he started creating in his basement and naming the bars after his children. His supplies included fresh ingredient along with a large quality of Hershey chocolate. In 1928 he started selling Reeses Peanut butter cups or as they were called penny cups as they cost just one penny at the time. They soon became so successful that he was able to sell five pound boxes to local candy shops. He soon was able to retire from Hershey's chocolate company. Today the companies worth is over 20 Billion dollars There have been dozens of variations on the candy, including “big cups,” miniatures, and minis, as well as dark chocolate, white chocolate, caramel, marshmallow, and hazelnut cream flavors. Other variations include Reese’s cookies, Reese’s Pieces, and Reese’s Puffs Cereal (of the “It’s Reese’s for breakfast!” fame—promoting “healthy” breakfast options for children everywhere).
